16 loves of a newfound 16-year-old

After celebrating my 16th birthday on August 26th, in the ever so lovely Punta Mita, Mexico, I have come back with a list of 16 "things" that are currently bringing me a great deal of joy. Without further ado...

Who better to start off this list than three girls who have recently become a terrific trio, as opposed to just a dynamic duo. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have always been, and will forever remain two of my greatest fashion inspirations and icons. Seeing as I have loved them my whole life, it is no surprise that as their younger sister Lizzie makes her mark in Hollywood, she too is becoming a fashion favourite of mine.

Love me a good pair of brogues. Patent, leather, suede, you name it - with these puppies you can't go wrong.
Esquivel (and hey, they match the blog quite nicely)

Ever since I got home from camp, I have been absolutely obsessed with finding the perfect sweater to go with every possible outfit I may need one for. Whether it be a light cropped knit to pair with denim shorts on a breezy summer day, or a heavy cashmere to bundle up in at night, sweaters seem to be on my current radar.

Prim and proper, I just love the look of a good collar. How polished.

One of these babies + vintage pair of levi's shorts + sneakers = the perfect lazy outfit. Now that's what I'm talking about.
Sea of Shoes T-shirt collection - I am officially making more of an effort to grow my own (sorry mom!!).

Happy Socks really picked a great name for their company because I know that if my feet had any emotion, or even a mouth for that matter, they sure would be smiling at the thought of these socks keeping em' warm!

#7 HIPSTER (aka round-frame) SUNNIES
There's no denying that the round-frame shape has taken over the sunglasses world with their effortlessly cool appeal and hipster essence.
Illesteva, Cutler and Gross, The Row, PRISM

Ok, ok, I know what you're thinking. You're shocked to see that shoes such as these have made a comeback from their Wizard of Oz glory days. Well I'm here to tell you that they are most certainly back, and better than ever. Besides the fact that they are sparkly and fun, glitter shoes can instantly make any LBD come to life.

You can't beat a classic, easy to wear pocket t-shirt. It is day, it is night, and it is anything in-between. I would say go for one in black, white, grey, and a colour!

If there is one thing I love, it is a good animal print. You can find it in my hair accessories, my shoe collection, my clutches, heck even my bedding (leopard snuggie, ha!). Here are a few pieces that boast gleeful and snazzy animal textures.

An enjoyable and simple substitution for a purse, that brightens and freshens any dull or straightforward outfit is of course, a clutch. So long as you are up for the challenge of carrying it, dive right in!

#12 MAUS
Over the summer, I was assigned some reading for my upcoming AP language course. It is very rare that I love a book so much I voluntarily sit down to read it (let alone a book for school!). For this reason, I thought it was fitting that Maus I and II, a graphic novel written and drawn by the very talented Art Spiegelman, be added to this list of things I adore.

This summer, more specifically this vacation, I spent my days in a daze while listening to Foster The People and Miike Snow. The lively beats and engaging rhythms make these musicians my top two picks for  Summer 2011.

That is all.
Go, Sartorialist, go! In Sodermalm, Sweden.

Makin' a splash on the runway this season, and on a budding young fashion icon (Miss Elle Fanning), are old-school varsity jackets! I am so excited that I finally have an excuse to whip out my Aunt's old Roots Canada jacket (in red) from the 80s.

And finally,
#16 CAKE ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Because who doesn't love a good slice of some decadent desserts on their one and only 16th birthday.
P.s. Those upside down exclamation marks are supposed to look like 16 candles. Clever, eh? I thought so.

Hope you're still awake after taking that all in! Thought it might be wise to end with some sugar.

I'm baaaaaack :D xx
